Yes! Following the lead of Dubai, the Persian Gulf nation of Qatar has announced plans to turn its beaches into resorts. The plan will involved between $15 and $20 BILLION in investments in the country, according to the Bangkok Post. Qatar hopes to have eight new 4- and 5-star hotels open by sometime in 2006. The plan also includes the construction of an international sporting arena, two new golf courses, and some 15,000 new apartments and "lifestyle villas."
