The Times of Oman is reporting that a court in Muscat, Oman has handed down the death sentence for an American woman convicted there of killing her husband. The woman, 43-year-old Rebecca Thompson, was convicted of hiring two Omani men to help her kill her oil worker husband, Mark Lee Thompson. Mark Thompson's 14-year old stepson was also convincted in the plot and sentenced to three years in jail. The two Omani men each got a ten year sentence. According to the Times, Rebecca was convicted of beating her husband with an iron bar before having his body burnt on this past New Year's Eve. The Thompsons are from Turtle, Oklahoma and family members there are skeptical that Rebecca played a role in Mark's death.
