If you're looking for dinner with a view, Hai Tien Lo Cantonese Restaurant on the 37th floor of The Pan Pacific is probably the place you're after. The circular structure offers a tremendous panorama of the city's harbour, Marina Bay, and the skyline.
Hai Tien Lo has a reputation for superb Cantonese cuisine. Some of the best of the menu:
- Crispy Roast Chicken
- Fried Shark’s Fin with Crab Meat
- Sauteed Kobe Beef with Fresh Chives and Korean Shemiji Mushrooms
- Pan-fried New Zealand Lamb Steak with Mint Leaves, Black Pepper and Blue Ginger
- A Japanese and Chinese cold combination, which includes suckling pig and roast duck, as well as sweet and spicy octopus
- Pan-fried New Zealand lamb
- Sri Lankan king crab
There is also a set lunch at about $40 Singapore that includes a dim sum spread.
You can also order "Buddha Jumps Over The Wall" - a specialty usually reserved for Chinese New Year. The dish is a soup made from dried abalone, dried scallops, shark's fin, fish, and sea cucumber.
Decor is a blend of contemporary and and Oriental.
Hai Tien Lo is annually selected for the Singapore’s Best Restaurants published by Singapore Tatler Magazine.
Plan on spending at least $60 Singapore per person. Reservations are absolutely necessary. There is not a smoking section.
